Science Programs

Are you curious about our natural world? LCCC's science programs include a variety of studies that center around life and the environments where life exists. Students who are interested in studying science at LCCC can choose from three options, all of which provide a foundation for students to complete their bachelor's degree and beyond.

Biology Program

Are you interested in learning about the living world – plants, animals, microorganisms and humans? LCCC’s Biology Program provides students with a strong foundation in life science. 

The science programs provide a foundation for students to complete their bachelor's degree and beyond. LCCC graduates need to continue at a four-year institution. Graduates often work in fields such as biology, biochemistry, botany, conservation, ecology, forestry, medicine, microbiology, wildlife or zoology.

Biomedical Sciences Program

The Biomedical Sciences program is designed for students who wish to improve the lives and health of their community by working in medicine. It is targeted at students with a career goal of doctor of medicine, veterinarian, pharmacist or dentist. 

Students complete the foundational coursework to apply to a four-year university or medical-related professional school. LCCC graduates must continue their education to work as a doctor of medicine, veterinarian, pharmacist or dentist.

Physical Science Program

The Physical Sciences Program introduces students to a focus on the properties and behavior of matter. Students will think on a microscopic level about the structure of atoms and molecules, and how those relate to macroscopic observations. Students will become problem-solvers, learning how to critically analyze and breakdown complex problems.
