We are so excited to offer our Life Enrichment Courses again this spring, and we invite you to join us at a class, or even two this semester!

Our ACC Life Enrichment Courses are offered to ALL members of Laramie and the surrounding community (not just LCCC students). Please note some courses are targeted at certain age ranges, but please contact us if you have specific questions. We are eager to hear from you!

Healthy Cooking: LIFE 5008.361

Start the year with tips on healthy eating to support mind and body for all ages. Topics include the science behind food, tasty and easy recipes, foods for health conditions, and turning a diet into a lifestyle. Food tasting included. Ages 18+.

Rod Building for Ice Fishing: LIFE 5124.361

Our custom rod building course will help you design and build your own custom ice fishing rod. In this basic rod building class, our experienced instructor will walk you through every step of building your own rod. You will learn how to spline blanks, attach tip tops, thread wrapping, cork reaming, filing guide feet, guide placement, attaching reel seats, and how to apply finish. At the end of the class you will have a completed ice fishing rod ready to fish. Ages 16+. Lunch included.

Software Basics: LIFE 5122.360

This course is designed to provide basic computer software skills. Topics include Word, Excel, Adobe and internet software applications at the introductory level. Student will receive an Office 2016 essentials guide to take home. Age 16+.

Babysitter Training and First Aid: LIFE 6017.360

The Babysitter Training teaches the knowledge and skills necessary to responsibly care for children and toddlers in and outside of the home. This includes training in leadership, child behavior and discipline, health and nutrition, professionalism, safety and basic childcare. Course also includes certification in Red Cross First-Aid and CPR. Ages 12+. Lunch included and two sections available.

Section 1: Saturday, Feb. 19 & Monday Feb. 21 | 9 a.m.– 4 p.m.
Section 2: Saturday, May 7 & 21 | 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Video Making and Editing: LIFE 6016.360

This course teaches students how to make and edit videos for YouTube and other computer systems. Students will learn the basics of video design and lighting, posting regulations and requirements, and how to use computer based and smartphone software. Students will make a video during class and all supplies are included. Ages 10+.

Jewelry Making: LIFE 5134.360

This course provides the basic tools to make jewelry, including selection of size, shape and color. Participants will gain knowledge in pattern techniques and basic wire skills to wrap pendants. This is an interactive class where students can explore their creativity and take home several jewelry pieces. All supplies are included. Two sessions available: Ages 16+ and Ages 10-15.

Fly Tying – Beginner/Intermediate: LIFE 5125.360

This course provides the tools needed to begin making fresh water flies. Topics include how to read a fly recipe, choosing the correct tools, selecting the right materials and make beginning to moderate level fly ties in class. It can include more advanced techniques and materials that are difficult to use (mallard wing, calf hair, Wolf variations, etc...). The techniques consist of using the rotary function of the vise, thread spin control, dubbing loops, whip finisher, etc. Lunch and all supplies are included to make 6+ flies. Ages 12+.

Parent Readiness: LIFE 5118. 360

What do young children need to thrive? Where is the balance between discipline and indulgence? Where might you want to enhance your skill set? This class covers parenting skills for each stage with interactive discussions. Ages 16+.

Internet & Computer Security: LIFE 5004.360

This course is designed for individuals looking to increase their skillset in navigating the internet. Topics include securing your data, safely saving and uploading files, using a jump drive, social media navigation and banking and government website know-how. Ages 16+.

Home Brewing – Introduction: LIFE 5128.360

LCCC and Laramie’s local breweries are collaborating on an introductory home brewing course. Participants will learn the ins-and-outs of home brew by brewing with a seasoned brewer. Topics will cover sanitation, ingredient selection, recipe formulation, fermentation, packaging, taste testing and more! Home brew equipment, supplies and lunch are included.

DIY Scrapbooking: LIFE 5158.360

Create lasting treasures highlighting your most favorite memories with unique colors, embellishments and designs. Learn the tricks of the trade, the ins and outs, the clever creativity of scrapbooking! Ages 14+. Lunch included.

Smartphone Photography and Editing: LIFE 5159.360

Want to improve your photos of family and friends?  This introductory course will discuss how to take, edit, upload, and save phoots from any smartphone to your computer. Students will also learn tips and tricks for taking photos on the fly. Ages 16+. Lunch included.

Mother’s Day Crafts: LIFE 6019.360

This DIY course allows exposure to different medians in art and design. A first-hand look at soap making, photography, calligraphy, jewelry making, and wood and glass design are provided. Students will create at least one gift of their choice and all supplies are included. Ages 10+.

Outdoor Survival: LIFE 5131.360

This hands-on course focuses on survival basics and using primitive methods to increase your chances of survival. Course work is taught in the Rocky Mountains on the four basics of survival: shelter, water, fire and food. Students will learn shelter building, water purification, fire starting techniques and hunting and gathering techniques. A freeze-dried survival style lunch will be provided in the field and students will take home a Swedish made bushcraft/fire knife. Class size is a maximum of 10 students to ensure a personalized experience. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

3-D Printing: LIFE 5139.360

Make a drawing come to life with our Kids’ 3D Printing class! This course is designed for students aged 10-14 and provides a first-hand look at the techniques behind 3D printing. Learn about the machinery and tools from the prototyping stage to full production. Then use design software to create two of your own detailed digital models to keep. Ages 10+.

Fly Tying – Advanced: LIFE 5130.361

This course provides the tools needed to make advanced fresh water flies. This course focuses on advanced tying techniques to include epoxy-bodied flies, complex recipes and fly designs. To finish the class, students will select a picture of an aquatic insect and then tie a fly to represent it based on the materials available. 

Lunch and all supplies are included to make 3+ flies. Ages 16+. Lunch included.
