LCCC’s public relations team earns state, regional and national honors

CHEYENNE, WYO. — The last few months have been positive ones for the public relations office at Laramie County Community College.

Late last year, the team learned that they won a number of Medallion Awards with the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations. These awards honor excellence in marketing from two-year colleges from the region that includes Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico and Wyoming.

LCCC won the Gold Award, or first place, in the categories of magazine (for its community publication, "The Talon"), original photography – unmanipulated, and original photography – manipulated. The school also won second place for its recruitment microsite and third place for a promotional mailing for student ambassadors.

Additionally, LCCC was nominated for two Paragon Awards from NCMPR. These honors represent the best in marketing and public relations from more than 650 institutions across North America. LCCC is the only Wyoming school to be nominated in 2018 for these awards.

Finally, the Wyoming Press Association gave three awards to LCCC at its recent annual convention. As part of the associates' arm of that organization, the college competed with the University of Wyoming as well as several other statewide agencies and organizations.

With WPA, the college won two first place awards: in the publications category for "The Talon" and another for internally developed advertising. LCCC also won third place in the feature photo category.
