Young Adult Education: LYFE/RYSE

LYFE: Leading Youth Forward Everyday Offered at the Cheyenne Campus

Individualized instruction is provided for students 16-24 years of age who want to improve their academic skills and/or obtain the equivalent of a high school diploma (HSEC/GED).Classes offered include reading, writing, math, science and social studies. The LYFE program also teaches students about financial literacy and career readiness. Instruction is provided in a classroom or small-group setting.

Students begin their program by completing a pre-assessment. This assessment will allow us to design an educational plan that best fits each student's needs. There are a variety of materials that can be assigned to help students achieve their goals. These include:

  • instructor-led classes 
  • small-group study sessions
  • subject assignments out of course books
  • online programs that can be completed from the student's home
  • Career Pathways
  • PowerPath screening

The LYFE program helps prepare students for their HSEC/GED exams.

RYSE: Reaching Youth who Seek Excellence Offered at the Laramie Campus 

Individualized instruction is provided for students 16-24 years of age who want to improve their academic skills and/or obtain their high school equivalency certificate. In RYSE, students also learn financial literacy and career readiness skills. 

Students begin their program by completing the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) which allows us to design an educational plan that fits each student’s needs. The Teaching and Learning Center offers a variety of materials including: 

  • instructor-led classes 
  • one-on-one instruction by appointment 
  • an adult education packet that includes work in reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, and science 
  • career pathways 
  • Bring You’re a Game to Work by Eric Chester 
  • PowerPath Screening
