What will I learn?

People have many different reasons for pursuing an art degree. Some are looking to explore various media and concepts, to develop their craft. Others are exploring personal interests like illustration, animation, tattooing and video games. Yet others are interested in teaching.

Students in LCCC's Art program receive hands-on training in a range of art media and techniques in a studio setting. They learn about art history as well as concepts that are explored in their own artwork. Students will learn how to talk and write about art. They will learn how to give and take useful feedback in critiques.

Non-art majors may wish to study in this area for personal reasons or for application to other program such as web page design, multimedia, and computer graphics.

Art students may apply for the Art Program Scholarship in addition to other Financial Aid & Scholarship Opportunities.

Associate of Arts

The major in art is intended to educate and assist students in a fundamental understanding of concepts, techniques and methods of form and content within works of art.

Art students have the opportunity to participate in a juried art exhibition each spring.

Student are encouraged to join the Art Student Union, a student-led club that meets to create and discuss art. They also exhibit their own work and work with students in local elementary schools.
