Some out-of-state students can go to LCCC at in-state rates

CHEYENNE, Wyoming – Laramie County Community College in Southeast Wyoming is offering students in three neighboring states the opportunity to come to LCCC at in-state rates, saving potentially thousands of dollars in their college education costs.

LCCC, located in Cheyenne, will begin offering in-state tuition rates to students from Colorado, Nebraska and South Dakota starting with the fall 2025 semester as part of a new initiative called The Edge. The rate will apply to new and returning students from those states.

The Edge program is designed to grow LCCC’s enrollment by attracting students from these border states, leveraging LCCC's exceptional affordability and programmatic offerings. Attending LCCC at in-state rates will result in significant cost savings for most students compared to staying in their home states. Some students from neighboring states could save as much as $14,000 over two years at LCCC.

The college’s Strategic Plan calls on LCCC to become the best-known higher education opportunity within 350 miles of its base in Southeast Wyoming, and leaders are confident The Edge will help achieve that goal. LCCC's strategy involves attracting exceptional students, helping them to graduate and encouraging them to stay in the region after completing their education, said LCCC President Joe Schaffer.

“Wyoming’s future is dependent on our ability to grow, develop, and retain the youth that will become tomorrow’s workforce and citizen leaders. Unfortunately, there isn’t a path simply by keeping those youth who are already here,” Schaffer said. “Yet, just across our borders there are growing populations of young people who share our values and would find Wyoming to be a great place to learn, and ultimately stay. Combined with the growing pressures on college costs, and the incredible value an education at a Wyoming community college presents, the financial incentive The Edge provides could have an incredible impact on building our next generation of leaders.”

Students will find a wide range of programs in LCCC’s eight Pathways, all designed to help students find their strengths and passions in education without wasting time or money. Everything from the arts, education, trades and technical programs, health care, STEM, IT and more are available.

LCCC offers the full college experience with a wide range of extracurricular activities, including student clubs, student centered events throughout the academic year and the excitement of attending athletic events. Students get into the Golden Eagle spirit by attending basketball, volleyball, soccer games, rodeo events, and more.

Students attending LCCC, also have the opportunity to live on campus. LCCC offers students multiple residential living options that are convenient and comfortable allowing access to campus amenities, student services and providing everything students need for a complete and enriching college experience.
