LCCC seeks participation for survey assessing local workforce needs
CHEYENNE, Wyoming – Laramie County Community College is conducting a comprehensive workforce training needs assessment to identify ways to upskill workers for local businesses and nonprofits.
Participation from Laramie County organizations with workforce needs is essential to the initiative’s success. The survey can be found here or by emailing Tonya Hacker, Outreach & Workforce Development dean, at thacker@lccc.wy.edu. Surveys must be submitted by Jan. 15.
The college is seeking participation from organizations in Laramie County, hoping to identify training needs that will help upskill the current workforce through LCCC’s programs in Outreach & Workforce Development. Workforce training programs at LCCC can be improved using data from a broad set of survey responses, providing benefits for workers, their employers and the wider regional economy, Hacker said.
“Our goal is to meet the needs of our community, especially our business and nonprofit sectors, in the best way we can,” she said. “When more employers participate, it helps LCCC understand what training is most needed — whether that’s training in conflict resolution, OSHA, HVAC or whatever the need might be — so we can build programs that benefit everyone in Laramie County. We are hoping to hear from as many people as possible.”
Hacker said the survey’s proponents are looking to elicit participation from organizations in eastern Laramie County, providing essential information about communities such as Pine Bluffs, Carpenter, Burns and more.
“We are hoping to get a high rate of participation rate in eastern Laramie County so we can develop an accurate idea of the workforce needs for businesses in that region, as well,” she said.
LCCC’s Outreach & Workforce Development includes programs in adult education, technical and business training and life enrichment. Each day, students at LCCC improve their employment prospects through training for high-demand careers.
