“Letters From Home” is set for 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19 in the Surbrugg/Prentice Auditorium on LCCC’s Cheyenne campus. The event is a collaboration between LCCC and the Southeast Wyoming Concert Series, demonstrating a commitment by community organizers and the college to bring arts to Cheyenne.

The Southeast Wyoming Concert Series is a nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization that relies on member support. For 90 years, it has provided the Cheyenne area with a diverse range of entertainment. Partnering with LCCC has allowed this group of dedicated individuals to combine with college resources to elevate the community’s cultural arts offerings, said Rita Basom, a Concert Series volunteer.

“This is work that’s near and dear to my heart because I’m an artist — a vocalist and theatre person — so to be able to bring things that are reasonably priced and of high quality to the Cheyenne area has been profoundly rewarding,” Basom said. “LCCC is well-equipped to help us be successful in our mission and we are grateful for this partnership.”

The touring performers of "Letters From Home" are a patriotic music group led by Erinn Dearth and Dan Beckmann. Their high-energy performances honor veterans with tap dancing and nostalgic wartime tunes from World War I to the present. Celebrating artists such as Frank Sinatra, Credence Clearwater Revival, the Nicholas Brothers and more, the performances are funny, historical and inspirational. The tour is part of the Allied Concert Series, a Minnesota-based organization that brings affordable arts and entertainment opportunities to small communities across the U.S.

“It's not just people on stage singing; it's people acting out different situations and bringing back memories through song, especially for our older generations,” Basom said. “It’s going to be a wonderful evening of song and memories. Music has a unique way of reaching people, even when other things cannot.”

Tickets, available at www.sewyoconcerts.org and at the door, are priced at $20 for adults, $50 for families and $5 for students. LCCC students can attend for free by showing a student ID. Season tickets are still available for the remainder of the Southeast Wyoming Concert Series 2024-2025 season. Season tickets are $60 for adults and $140 for families, and grant entry to the three remaining Southeast Wyoming Concert Series events and up to 20 additional concerts throughout the region.
