LCCC men’s soccer team headed to National Tournament
CHEYENNE, Wyoming. – Laramie County Community College’s men’s soccer team will begin pool play in the NJCAA Division I Men’s Soccer National Tournament next week, in Tyler, Texas. As one of 12 teams in the tournament, the Golden Eagles will play two games in Pool Play, Group C, for an opportunity to advance to the semi-finals and finals of the tournament.
The Golden Eagles enter the tournament as the sixth seeded team, defeating Central Wyoming College, Western Nebraska Community College and Otero College in the Region IX tournament. The Golden Eagles finished their regular season with a #4 national ranking and had an overall season record of 15-1-1 and a conference record of 6-0-1.
Men’s soccer coach, Vince Gibson shared, “we are proud to represent LCCC in the NJCAA national soccer tournament this year. If the boys come to play, stay focused, and limit mistakes, we have a chance of moving on!”
This year’s tournament is the third consecutive year that the Golden Eagles have advanced to the national tournament. In 2019 the lost in the semifinals and in spring 2021, they finished fifth.
In their first game, the Golden Eagles will take on Coffeyville Community College (#10 seed) on Tuesday, Nov. 16. Their second game will be with Iowa Western Community College (#3 seed) on Wednesday, Nov. 17, both games will be at 2 p.m. MT.
