LCCC’s sonography program receives new accreditation

CHEYENNE, WYOMING – The diagnostic medical sonography program at Laramie County Community College received the continuing accreditation award from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs and the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

The program also received initial accreditation for offering vascular sonography, a relatively new area of practice for that field. LCCC will be the first such program in the Front Range, as well as Wyoming, to offer vascular accreditation.

According to Starla Mason, the dean of LCCC’s School of Health Sciences & Wellness, the DMS program has received the maximum five-year accreditation award for the program. This award ensures that LCCC students are eligible for certification and are receiving the gold standard in sonography education.
