LCCC ranch horse show team wins Maverick Roundup

CHEYENNE — Success for the LCCC Golden Eagles keeps coming, this time with the ranch horse show team.

The LCCC Maverick Roundup ranch horse show was hosted on March 9-11 at Laramie County Community College.

Held with the Slidin Daze show series, the event is affiliated with SHoT (Stock Horse of Texas) association and rules. The show was both collegiate and open to the public.

Danny May is the LCCC ranch horse coach, and Lanae McDonald is both an equine studies instructor and the equestrian team coach.

"These students have been working so hard," McDonald said. "The all-around means that they had the highest average in all four classes - trail, pleasure, reining, and cow work. And some of our students won their division in a single class also."

LCCC won the event with a total 124 point, more than 30 points ahead of their closest competitor. Individual results for LCCC are:

  • Collegiate Non Pro All Around: Layne George, first; Jennay Terrell, third
  • Collegiate Limited Non Pro All Around: Andie Jensen, first; Allison Frank, second
  • Collegiate Novice All Around: Addysen Rosner, second; Abigail Larson, third; Taylor Nuttall, seventh; Caitlin Garcia, 11th; Wayne Schill, 13th

The ranch horse team will next compete April 13-15 in McCook, Neb., at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.
