It’s almost time for the Shawn Dubie Memorial Rodeo at LCCC

CHEYENNE, WYO. — Saddle up: the Shawn Dubie Memorial Rodeo is almost here.

Presented by the Laramie County Community College, this year's rodeo takes place Oct. 12-14 at the LCCC Arena. Numerous colleges will be on hand to compete at the event.

The rodeo begins at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 11 a.m. on Sunday. The cost is $10 for general admission; $5 for military, seniors and youth (11-17); and free for children 10 and younger. On Friday, Oct. 12, admission is free for all military personnel and their family with a valid military ID. Tickets are available at the door.

Shawn Dubie attended LCCC and even qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo in 1987 and 1988. At just 21 years old, Shawn passed away following an injury sustained at the Greeley Independence Stampede. Created to honor Shawn and his contributions to the College, the profits from this annual rodeo are put toward an LCCC scholarship fund established in his memory.

Seth Glause is the head coach for the Golden Eagles rodeo team.
