LCCC to host event for weather safety and storm spotter training

CHEYENNE, WYO. — Winter weather has already arrived in Laramie County, and a new program hosted by Laramie County Community College will explore weather safety, storm spotting, and more.

"Winter Weather Safety & Storm Spotter Training" will be presented by the local office of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration/National Weather Service and the Cheyenne/Laramie County Emergency Management Agency (LCEMA).

The hour-long program will take place twice on Thursday, Oct. 25: 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Both sessions take place in the ANB Bank Leadership Center in the Clay Pathfinder Building on the LCCC Campus.

This free event is open to the entire community.

Jared Allen, senior meteorologist with the Cheyenne office of NOAA/National Weather Service will be the featured speaker at these training sessions. Additionally, representatives from the LCEMA will discuss what their agency does to assist and protect the local community during times of inclement weather.

Discussions will include information on the weather trends for this upcoming winter, winter weather safety, and a review of the tornado and hail storms of 2018.
