LCCC seeks input about its role in community recreation and athletics
CHEYENNE, WYO. – Laramie County Community College will hold community forums to gain public input regarding the planned renovation of the LCCC Recreation & Athletic Complex (RAC) and how this building could meet community needs and opportunities.
Two separate sessions will take place, both on Wednesday, July 12: at noon in the Laramie County Library's Sunflower Room and at 6 p.m. in LCCC's Clay Pathfinder Building, Room 409.
"We recognize that the need for community recreation facilities has been a significant topic over the past years," said LCCC President Joe Schaffer. "With the college's plan for significant renovations to our RAC, an opportunity presents itself where LCCC could potentially play a role in addressing the community need for these types of facilities. So we thought we better ask."
Some of the key focal points at these forums will be to:
- discuss the broader recreational needs that this facility could provide to the community;
- explore LCCC's role in meeting these needs;
- get public input about whether they support LCCC playing a role in addressing these needs; and
- answer any questions regarding potential construction or renovation.
For those who are unable to attend but would like to share their thoughts, they can do so by emailing Dr. Schaffer at presidentFREELARAMIE.
LCCC is considering seeking community support this fall for three major projects on campus: a new residence hall; classroom and laboratory renovation of the Fine Arts Building and a new auditorium; and improvements to the Recreations & Athletics Complex.
