LCCC’s radiography students find success

Twenty-eight students and two advisors of the LCCC Radiography Club attended the Association of Collegiate Educators in Radiologic Technology meeting in January.

Second-year student Michelle Johnson, placed first in the student challenge out of more than 500 students from across the country. Overall, four LCCC students placed in the top 20 in this question-and-answer competition.

Carolyn Spranger, another second-year student, took second place in the three-minute thesis oral competition and second place in the investigational poster competition. Her research addressed data and findings regarding overhead fluoroscopy and the increased scatter and radiation exposure resulting from that.

Finally, two LCCC students, Courtney Keahey and Mililani Cestoni, were selected to attend the 2017 Student Leadership Development program sponsored by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists. They will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the annual ASRT symposium and meeting this June in Orlando. Matthew Whittaker will serve as their alternate.
