LCCC joins forces with school district to receive Career Pathways Demonstration Grant
To help improve the opportunities for area students, Laramie County School District No. 2, in partnership with LCCC and Advanced Comfort Solutions, will receive a grant of $118,000 from the Wyoming Department of Education.
This grant will enable these educational and business partners to develop and document curriculum and career pathways for industrial trade careers. By designing and offering concurrent and dual enrollment classes for high school students, they will be able to earn college credit before graduation.
The curriculum will also embed science, technology, engineering and math principles. This project will focus on career pathways that develop a stronger industrial trades workforce in southeast Wyoming.
“This is a great opportunity to expand our curriculum and purchase equipment that will offer a new educational experience,” said Jack Cozort, superintendent of LCSD2.
“It’s critical that we are able to increase career and technical educational opportunities for our youth,” Dave Curry, LCCC’s technical studies program director, said. “Industrial Trade careers provide high pay, high demand jobs. This grant will help expand our efforts to train a skilled future workforce.”
