British filmmaker and author to speak at LCCC’s Ludden Library

British documentary filmmaker and author Tim Slessor will be in Cheyenne on Thursday, Nov. 6, speaking to the public at Laramie County Community College’s Ludden Library as part of Chadron State College’s pilot Practitioner-in-Residence program.

Slessor’s presentation, “Immigrants,” will take place at 7 p.m. that day. The event is free and open to the public. The talk explores the connection between the American West and Great Britain.

He is the author of the bestseller “First Overland” as well as “More than Cowboys,” which was published in 2011. That book is Slessor’s homage to the West and its people.

After more than 30 years creating documentaries for BBC, he turned to freelance work writing for various magazines and directing/producing for Channel Four, NBC, and the National Geographic.

Tim Slessor’s visit is being hosted by the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center at Chadron State College through a private donation to the Chadron State Foundation.
