LCCC Speech Team places 3rd at national tournament
Following a highly successful season, the LCCC speech team took its talents to the Junior Varsity National Tournament in Kansas and found even more accolades for its efforts.
The team—Tia Fitzgerald, Lee “Trae” Myers, Meghan O’Brien, Louis Uribe, and Courtney
Wood—competed against other first- and second-year college students from across the
nation.
O’Brien and Uribe made it into final rounds, with O’Brien placing second in persuasive speaking and Uribe placing third in impromptu speaking and fifth in extemporaneous speaking.
The team placed third in Division II sweepstakes, and fifth in the open division. Because sweepstakes points are calculated from preliminary and final round placings, the exceptional performances of the entire team were responsible for securing a sweepstakes trophy.
Holly Manning serves as the team’s coach.
