About:

Mike started as a Student Success Coach at LCCC in 2023. Before becoming a success coach, he studied Spanish Linguistics earning a Bachelor and Master of Arts in Spanish at University of Wyoming. Growing up in a predominantly Spanish speaking home in a largely English-speaking community he developed an interest in language and communication that linguistics helped unravel. As a first-generation Chicano student, education provided him with many opportunities that would not have been possible otherwise. Now as a coach, he is dedicated to breaking down barriers and supporting students through the college process to achieve their goals. Mike was born and raised in rural Cheyenne and has a strong tie to the community. He enjoys hiking, camping and paddleboarding when the Wyoming weather cooperates, or during those winter months enjoying a book or playing Dungeons and Dragons. Mike’s educational experience and background have instilled a strong desire and developed the skills for him to effectively help others through their educational journey.
