Join us for traditional African artistry at the 5th Annual Education-Culture Conference "African Maafa (The Scattering) Remembrance Day" presented by SANKOFA (Back to the Source) African Heritage Awareness. This free event will take place from 9:05 a.m. - 12:35 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016 in LCCC's Union Pacific Center for Conferences and Institute.
Meet special guest Nakia Wigfall, a Gullah-Geechee performer and historian from Charleston, South Carolina. Enjoy performances by Africans United from Colorado State University, South High School Concert Choir and LCCC Collegiate Chorale. See ritual and traditional dancing, singing, chanting and griots (storytelling).
Breakfast will be provided at 8:30 a.m., and lunch will be available at 10:45 a.m. Donations appreciated.
