LCCC Commencement

LCCC will hold commencement from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 16 in Storey Gym.

This year’s commencement ceremony for Laramie County Community College will feature a true Wyoming success story: award-winning author and noted outdoorsman, C.J. Box.

Box is the New York Times bestselling author of 18 novels. Among several other honors, he won the prestigious Edgar Alan Poe Award for Best Novel in 2009 for Blue Heaven. His novels have been translated into 27 languages, and four of them have been optioned for film and television. His most recent novel, Endangered, debuted at number two on the New York Times bestseller list in March. His newest work, Badlands, will be published in July 2015.

A Wyoming native, Box has worked as a ranch hand, surveyor, fishing guide, a small town newspaper reporter and editor, and he has also owned an international tourism marketing firm with his wife, Laurie. An avid outdoorsman, Box has hunted, fished, hiked, ridden and skied throughout Wyoming and the Rocky Mountain west. He’s even served on the Board of Directors for the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo.

“We are delighted to have C.J. Box as our honored guest,” said LCCC President Joe Schaffer. “What makes this even more special is that Chuck has very humble beginnings from right here in Wyoming.  His story will resonate with our graduates as they chart their own futures after graduation.”

This year’s ceremony takes place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, at Storey Gymnasium in Cheyenne. This academic year, it’s anticipated that 760 candidates for graduation will earn their credentials from LCCC.
