Learning Competencies

  • Critically evaluate the historical, socio-cultural, and philosophical aspects of sport
  • Identify, select, and implement appropriate learning practice opportunities based on understanding the students, the learning environment, and the task.
  • Construct codes of personal ethics and apply professional codes of ethics to a sport setting.
  • Apply skill in interpersonal and organizational communication, to the mass media, in both print and electronic media.
  • Explain the relationships between sport and state/federal legislation, the court system, contract law, tort liability, agency law, antitrust law, constitutional law, and collective bargaining.
  • Articulate the implications of the various agencies that govern the sport at the professional, collegiate, high school, and amateur levels.
