What will I learn?

Well-trained workers in the energy efficient Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R) field are in high-demand. LCCC's HVAC/R program teaches about HVAC/R installation, repair and maintenance as well as thermal dynamics, fluid dynamics and electrical topics. As the equipment becomes more and more energy efficient and complex, the importance of understanding the fundamentals is crucial.

Students who are interested in studying HVAC/R at LCCC can choose from two options:

Credit Diploma

The HVAC/R credit diploma program is designed for the student who wishes to gain the basic skills required to enter the HVAC/R workforce. Students are introduced to basic concepts such as electric motors circuits, heating and air-conditioning, refrigeration system components, mechanical piping skills and residential heating systems.

In the first semester of this program, students will earn the Industrial Systems Technology credit diploma

Students in this program must start in the fall semester.

Available at the Cheyenne main campus.

Associate of Applied Science

The energy efficient Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R) program is designed for students who want to gain valuable industry skills and also want to pursue a basic academic foundation. The program includes general education requirements; HVAC/R installation, repair, and maintenance knowledge and skills: thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and electrical topics – all of which are combined to provide the groundwork for direct industry employment.
