Wyoming Center for Business and Economic Analysis

The Wyoming Center for Business and Economic Analysis was established in 1985 by now retired LCCC faculty member Dick O'Gara. Over the last 35 years, the center has offered services ranging from economic indicator analysis reports to business surveys to forensic economics testimonies in court cases. The center is housed at Laramie County Community College and run by Nick Colsch, an economics and public policy instructor at the college.

Economic Indicator Analysis

Every quarter, the center releases an economic indicators analysis report for Cheyenne and Laramie County. The reports utilize a bevy of economic variables to determine the economic health of the city and the county. Every year in March, the center releases an annual economic trends report that includes both the quarterly indicators and annualized data from sources like the American Community Survey and Bureau of Labor and Statistics.

Commercial Property Reports

Every quarter, the center releases a commercial properties report for Cheyenne and Laramie County. The reports track every available office, medical, retail, and warehouse space for sale or rent in Laramie County and include information on rental prices, square footage, vacancy rates in local malls, and contact information is provided to interested buyers and renters.

Business Surveys

Annually, the center releases a business climate report for businesses operating in Cheyenne and Laramie County. The survey includes responses related to profitability and growth, hiring practices and issues, and ratings on public utilities and services.

Policy Briefs

The center, along with President Schaffer, has released policy papers related to Wyoming's tax policies and their effects on business growth in Wyoming. The policy papers analyze Wyoming's current tax rates compared to surrounding states and to states with similar tax structures to Wyoming's tax base.
