What will I learn?

Are you passionate about horses? The equine program encompasses opportunities to study and learn about horses and the wide-range of industry opportunities.

LCCC's equine program is hands-on, teaching students practical skills including:

• Equine growth, development, reproduction and nutrition
• Business, marketing and management for the equine industry
• Colt breaking, horse training and behavior
• Land management

Students will get a well-rounded education that includes basic sciences, communication, ecology and business.

Options

The equine programs give students options to complete two years of training at LCCC and move into the workforce or transfer to a university for a four-year degree.

Associate of Science

The Equine Science program allows a student to prepare for transfer to a four-year university program. Students will gain hands-on experience that is vital to their success in the industry while also preparing academically for a higher degree program. By successfully taking the core science classes combined with all aspects of our equine studies classes, students have been well prepared to further their education and continue to reach their goals in the industry.

This program covers biology, anatomy and the science behind nutrition, and physiology of the horse. Equine health, range management, equine reproduction, and animal biology add to the science focus of this program.

Available at the Cheyenne main campus.
