Program offers classes in basic skills, GED prep
A representative from Sen. Mike Enzi’s office visited Cheyenne’s Adult Career and Education System (ACES) on June 22 to observe services provided by the program through the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA). Kelly Hastings visited the main adult basic education and GED classroom and also the structured, instructor-led GED class. The ACES program is funded in part by the Workforce Investment Act, which is slated for reauthorization in 2009. Hastings also observed a classroom for English language learners.

The ACES program, located at Laramie County Community College, also receives funding through the Wyoming Community College Commission. The ACES program offers classes in basic math, reading, and writing, GED preparation, English proficiency, and basic computer literacy. The program uses a variety of teaching methods to help students achieve their goals. It has served more than 1,000 students this fiscal year.
