Men’s soccer defeats Western Nebraska

Golden Eagles are 4-1-1 overall.

The Laramie County Community College men’s soccer team hosted Western Nebraska Community College on Sept. 8 for a conference matchup. The Golden Eagles took the win in the second half, with a final of 3-1.

LCCC took control of the game right from the whistle, taking many shots at the Cougars goal. In the 11th minute Sam Hickman found the back of the net and was assisted by Casey Allen. With a defensive communication error, WNCC’s Jose Netto was able dribble past the Golden Eagles defense and score on goalkeeper Brandon Carrick. The first half ended 1-1.

In the second half, the Golden Eagles put even more pressure on the Cougars defense and in the 50th minute, Tyler Arbuckle scored, assisted by Guilherme Andrade. LCCC’s Guilherme Andrade scored an insurance goal in the 55th minute, assisted by Colton Cook.

The next games for the men’s soccer team (4-1-1 overall, 1-0-1 Region IX) will be on the road in Garden City, Kan., on Sept. 10 and then to La Junta, Colo., on Sept. 11.
