Volleyball team struggles on long road trip

The Golden Eagles women’s volleyball squad had road trip they would like to soon forget. It was a weekend full of delays and rescheduled matches and extended stays due to snow, road closures and power outages. To add to the long weekend, Laramie County Community College tacked on two losses to their season, both in three straight games.

The LCCC ladies were finally able to make it to Powell to play Northwest College on Sunday, Oct. 6, originally scheduled for Friday, Oct. 4, where they lost in three straight games, 22-25, 23-25 and 10-25.

Leading the way for the Golden Eagles was Rory McCloy who recorded 19 assist, 3 kills, 8 digs and a block assist. As a team the Golden Eagles had 25 assist, 3 block assists, 39 digs, 3 serve aces and 28 kills.

After more delays, the Golden Eagles made their way to Sheridan, Wyo., to play the Sheridan College Generals on Monday, Oct. 7 instead of Saturday Oct. 5, and lost that match in three as well, 25-17, 25-18 and 25-15.

Ambre Desaulnay led the team with 10 kills on the evening along with the team’s only ace serve. As a unit the Golden Eagles had 53 digs, 4 block assists, 23 kills and 21 assists.

The Golden Eagles look to get back on track when they host No. 5 Western Wyoming Community College on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. and Central Wyoming College on Oct. 12 at 3 p.m.
