Former Golden Eagle basketball player becomes a Ram

Kaipo Sabas has moved on from Laramie County Community College’s basketball team and is now a member of the Colorado State University Rams. Recently Sabas was announced as a part of the basketball team as a walk-on.

Sabas played his first two years of college basketball at LCCC. He is a native of Fort Collins, Colo. Last season Sabas played in all 33 of LCCC’s games and led the Golden Eagles in 3-point field goal percentage, shooting 38 percent from beyond the arc. He scored a total 287 points last season, averaging eight per game, and was a reliable free-throw shooter, making 89 percent from the line.

Last season Sabas helped lead the Golden Eagles to one of its best seasons ever, finishing 22-11 and winning the Region IX South-Sub Region title.

The current Golden Eagles’ season begins at 7 p.m. Nov. 9 at home in the LCCC Gym. All Golden Eagle athletic events are free. Schedules can be found at
