Golden Eagles defeat Western Wyoming, now stand 5-0 in region play.

The Laramie County Community College women’s soccer team defeated the Western Wyoming Community College Mustangs 3-1 on Sept. 29.

In the first minute of play, LCCC’s Brittany DeMartin scored the first goal of the game, assisted by Emi Yamamoto. LCCC controlled possession most of the first half and outshot the Mustangs 10-1, but couldn’t put more points up before the end of the half.

The second half started out the same way. The Golden Eagles took 16 more shots in the second half but still had a hard time putting the ball into the net. WWCC’s Jessica Himerlright found an opening in the LCCC defense and scored in the 60th minute to tie the game. In the 85th minute, Amanda Halter received a nice pass from Junko Honda and was able to beat the Mustangs defense for the game-winning goal. But Halter wasn’t done. She beat the WWCC defense again in the 87th minute for the insurance goal, assisted by Monica Lubin.
