Accolades come to two former LCCC student-athletes

After graduating from LCCC, men’s basketball student-athletes Ude Ifeanyichukwu and Bruno Machado recently earned academic honors at their new schools.

Ifeanyichukwu, who just completed his junior year at Southern Mississippi University, was named to the 2013-14 Conference USA Commissioners’ Honor Roll. This award is presented to student-athletes that maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or better. He was also named the University of Southern Mississippi Male Student-Athlete of the Year.

While at LCCC, he led the Golden Eagles in blocks per game and landing a spot among the top five in the country each of his two seasons in blocks per game. During his LCCC career, he averaged 6.65 points per game, 7.1 rebounds per game and 3.85 blocks per game.

Bruno Machado, who just graduated from Adams State University, was named the ASU Economics Student of the Year, Finance Student of the Year, and Most Outstanding Business Graduate. He also earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic Honor Roll Honors and was named the 2014 Men’s Basketball Student Athlete of the Year.

At LCCC, Machado averaged 4.3 points per game, shooting 56 percent from the field and 38 percent from the three-point line.
