Laramie County Community College's own surgical technology program is required to maintain its high standards in order to keep its accreditation status, and now that program’s director will help ensure other schools are striving for those standards, too.

Kathy Snyder, LCCC’s surgical technology program director, has been appointed to the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. This council oversees more than 450 accredited surgical technology programs in the United States through the Commission on Accreditation of the Allied Health Education Programs accreditation system. Snyder’s work on the board will include analyzing data on all these programs on a regular cycle and participating in board recommendations to the commission on program accreditation status.

“It makes my head spin just thinking about it,” Snyder said of the accomplishment.
