Monroe College and Monroe Community College get the best of LCCC.

The Golden Eagles men’s soccer team lost 5-3 to second ranked Monroe College on Aug. 31 in New Rochelle, N.Y.

The Golden Eagles conceded three goals in the first half of play but found their rhythm in the second half. In the 49th minute Dino Soto stripped the ball from a MCC defender and passed the ball to Peterson Neri, who chipped the ball over the Monroe goalie.

Monroe answered back with a goal in the 53rd minute, but the Eagles were determined to get back into the game. Dimitri Sofias dribbled the ball into the MCC defense and passed to Fernando Perez, who blasted a shot into the corner of the goal in the 77th minute. Moments later, Eagle Josh Cirbo won a ball in the air and passed it to Dino Soto, who scored in the 79th minute on a shot from 35 yards out. As LCCC was gaining momentum and looking to tie the game, Monroe put in an insurance goal in the 89th minute to seal the victory.
