“Wingspan” has a new website

CHEYENNE, WYO. — Wingspan Student Media, Laramie County Community College's student news media organization, has launched a new website, LCCCWingspan.com. The new site is designed to give the audience an improved experience while providing student journalists with a new digital platform for news coverage.

"Initiatives like this new website provide an important platform for publishing quality journalism," said Jake Sherlock, one of the faculty advisers for Wingspan. "My hope is that it will provide an educational platform for our students to practice their craft and a better reading and viewing experience for the community."

The new site will also link the content student journalists produce to their personal profile pages, automatically creating an online portfolio of work that students can share when applying for transfer to a four-year college or for employment.

Wingspan was one of the first newspapers in Wyoming to go online when Wingspan Online launched in 1995. In addition to the website, Wingspan continues to produce a monthly print newspaper.

Wingspan Student Media is operated by student editors and overseen by faculty advisers from the mass media/multimedia program. Student editors for 2017-18 are Creighton Grove, Isaiah Colbert and Jenna Piper. In addition to Sherlock, Cyrus Saatsaz serves as a faculty adviser.
