LCCC’s Albers named to “Thirty Under 30” for volleyball coaches

LCCC head women's volleyball coach Austin Albers was named a recipient of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Thirty Under 30 award, as announced by the organization today.

The AVCA honors thirty of the nation's best up-and-coming volleyball coaches under 30 years old at all levels of the game. First presented the award in 2009, the AVCA has recognized many coaches who have emerged as some of the biggest names in the sport.

"It is truly an honor to be recognized, and I want to thank LCCC for giving me the support that I need to be successful," said Albers. "I also want sure to thank my assistant Britney Brown and the women in the program. Their commitment and dedication have been made this honor possible."

Albers recently completed his second year as the women's head coach at LCCC. He has compiled a 51-30 record, comprised of the only back-to-back 25+ win seasons in program history. His winning percentage of .630 is the best that the program has experienced.

In 2014, the Golden Eagles finished with a 25-15 record while receiving votes in the NJCAA DI Volleyball Top 20 Poll. In 2015, LCCC finished the season with a 26-15 record against a schedule that included 16 matches against nationally ranked or vote-receiving opponents.

"I've been fortunate to have great mentors and role models, not to mention a great support system at home," Albers added. "I'm excited about the future of this program and the opportunity to continue growing as a coach and leader."
