LCCC All-American Dennis Vivar-Diaz signs with Northwest Nazarene University

Laramie County Community College men’s soccer sophomore All-American Dennis Vivar-Diaz has committed and signed with Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho. Vivar-Diaz, a central midfielder for the Golden Eagles this past season, hails from Idaho Falls, Idaho, and was a 2014 NSCAA second team All-American.
“I’m very excited about my future at Northwest Nazarene, and I’m thrilled to join a talented group that I feel I’ll fit in well with,” Vivar-Diaz said. “I’ll also be closer to home, so hopefully my parents can watch some games.”
“They are getting a great student-athlete in Dennis,” said LCCC men’s soccer coach Vince Gibson. “He’s a team leader who’s going to make an impact right away for the Crusaders,”
Vivar-Diaz had a great career at LCCC: he made 30 career starts, 17 goals and 17 assists for the Golden Eagles in his two years. His 17 assists are second in the records books for a career. As a freshman, he was an honorable mention midfielder for NJCAA Region IX and was also named the 2013 Freshman of the Year.
As a sophomore, he was a first team midfielder for Region IX, first team NSCAA All-West Region Team, and a NSCAA Second Team All-American. Vivar-Diaz was also the team captain for the Golden Eagles this past season.
Vivar-Diaz will study criminal justice at NNU, which is a private Christian liberal arts college.
The Crusaders had a historic run this past season as they recorded the most wins in a single season in program history, and earned a spot in the Top 25 national rankings with reaching as high as No. 22 in the polls. As a team they finished the year 15-4-1 and made it to the second round of the NCAA Division 2 National Tournament.
