LCCC to host financial literacy event with live rock performance

Recent studies suggest that the average U.S. household credit card debt in 2014 is $15,480, and the average debt for a Wyoming student who graduated from a four-year university in 2012 stands at $21,241. These are trends the Fall Financial Literacy Tour hopes to change.

The tour is coming to LCCC at noon on Friday, Sep. 5, in the Student Lounge. This free presentation is open to anyone who wants to take control of his or her financial future.

Sponsored by Funding the Future and McGee, Hearne and Paiz, this isn’t any ordinary financial planning lesson. Presented by a rock musician and his band, it incorporates a live performance and the band members’ personal experiences to make the message meaningful for the audience.

Funding the Future plans to spread this message nationwide. The organization focuses on the importance of financial literacy at any age, giving participants tools to make informed decisions throughout their lives and gaining discipline and confidence with their money.
