The Laramie County Community College mass media/multimedia department will sponsor the annual “Worldwide Photo Walk” on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Lions Park in Cheyenne in cooperation with the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens’ Children’s Village.
The free event is designed to bring together photographers on one day for a short period of time to shoot a specific area, with similar walks will take place around the world that weekend. Each year, more than 30,000 photographers walk in more than 1,000 locations around the world, capturing more than 6 million images in one day.
J.L. O’Brien, local Photo Walk leader and multimedia instructor at LCCC, described the event as a way to meet other photographers in the area and to see how they approach the same subject. The last two years’ walks each attracted approximately 50 photographers. Register for the local walk.
Photo Walk participants will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Paul Smith Children’s Village of the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens. From there, the photographers will fan out across Lions Park.
At noon, the photographers are invited to meet and share their work during a no-host lunch. After the walk, photographers are also welcome to submit their favorite shots for the local competition.
The local winner will receive the book “The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 Book for Digital Photographers.” That winner’s photograph will then be submitted to the international competition for a chance to win other prizes.
