LCCC Programs of Study For Laramie County School District #1 students

Career Pathway Roadmaps are a visual alignment of high school courses that fulfill graduation requirements in LCSD #1 and lead to a certificate or a degree at Laramie County Community College, and possibly beyond. This seamless alignment of courses for both institutions provides an exceptional advising tool. Sometimes several high school courses will meet general academic requirements, but a “best choice” course can usually be identified when the student’s eventual career goals are considered. Counselors, career coaches, academic and transitional advisers and teachers can use roadmaps to help students make the following decisions:

• Select the best courses – both in electives and core selections – to fulfill high school graduation requirements. Roadmaps recommend the best courses to take at each grade in each pathway, especially in math or science, when preparing for a viable career. For example, a student on a diesel technology pathway should take a basic conceptual physics course before high school graduation.
• Make the best use of college credits earned through the concurrent enrollment and dual credit programs for high school juniors and seniors as required by Wyoming state legislation. When an approved course is an option on a pathway, it is “recommended” on roadmaps because it provides both college and high school credit for the student’s efforts.
• Tailor a student’s individual educational choices to meet personal choices and directions, and the needs of business and industry in his or her chosen career pathway.

Programs and Roadmaps
