The Laramie County Community College rodeo team was in Chadron, Nebraska, over the weekend for the Chadron State College Rodeo.
As a team, the women finished fifthwith 110 points, and the men finished tied with Casper College for sixth and seventh with 170 points in the competition.
The top performer for the Golden Eagles was Brandon Olson in the bull riding. Olson finished third with a long-go score of 88 on his first ride. Olson was unable to have a successful second ride but earned a total of 100 points and a third-place finish in the competition. Chance Englebert had another successful weekend, finishing fourth in bareback riding and earning 50 team points. Had a no score on his first ride but scored a 74 on his second.
Brady Joseph teamed up with Tyler Weeding of Casper, and they finished in fifth with a long-go time of 7.6. Unfortunately, they were unable to get a clean catch in the short go. Kalane Anders recorded a long go time of 11.4 in the tie-down roping and finished in 10th and earned 20 team points. Cameron Fanning had a long-go time of 7.5 in the steer wrestling and a no score in the short go, but he still placed 11th.
On the women’s side, Syerra Christensen earned 80 team points and placed sixth in the break away roping with a long-go time of 2.1, which was the best time overall in the long go among the competitors. Her short-go time was 12.3, giving her a 14.4 for the average.
The LCCC Rodeo team will now head to Sheridan, Wyoming, this weekend for the Sheridan College Rodeo, Sept. 25-27.
