Russell Johnson grew up in a small town in south central Minnesota called Mapleton, which is affectionately referred to by the locals as the curling capital of southern Minnesota.
After bouncing around from physics to engineering in college, Russ settled on mathematics and obtained his bachelors from Minnesota State University Mankato (2011). Russ then moved to Laramie, Wyoming, where he obtained his masters (2014) and doctorate in mathematics (2017) with an emphasis on applied mathematics. In particular, his research focuses on uncertainty quantification for numerical integration schemes.
Russ lives with his wife and two kids and enjoys fishing, hiking and home-brewing.
