LCCC Orientation

Get a great start to your college experience!

Orientation promotes student success by providing students with information and engagement opportunities to facilitate their transition to LCCC. At Orientation, you will meet other students, learn more about LCCC, and begin connecting to campus resources that will aid in your success. Plus, you will have a chance to win prizes and get all your questions answered as you prepare to begin at LCCC!

Join us for an Orientation in either in Cheyenne or Laramie (dates vary, see below) to get Orientation, a campus tour, advising, registration, and more all completed in one day! In-person Orientation sessions are full day events (8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. in Cheyenne, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. in Laramie) that involve you gaining valuable knowledge about LCCC, making connections with other students, faculty, and staff, possibly completing placement testing, and meeting with your advisor and registering for classes, all in one day! They are the most efficient (and fun) way to get started as a Golden Eagle!

If you can’t make it to campus for one of these events, you have the option of doing Orientation online. Should you choose to complete online Orientation, you will be responsible for making arrangements for your advising appointment separately, after you have completed Orientation, and will be responsible for making your own arrangements for placement testing as well, if required.

Prior to Signing Up For Orientation

To attend Orientation, you must be fully admitted to LCCC for the upcoming semester. This means that you have applied for admission for the correct term, and LCCC has received and processed your official high school or GED transcript.

Orientation is mandatory for all degree- and certificate-seeking students. Orientation provides all students with information to help support their success at LCCC.

However, a student's orientation requirement will be considered waived if:

  • The student has completed an associate, bachelor's or higher degree from a regionally-accredited institution (LCCC must have received official transcripts verifying the degree was conferred)
  • The student has successfully completed a minimum of 24 college-level institutional credits (credits at or above the 1000-level, taken at LCCC) with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • The student has completed an LCCC New Student Orientation since April 2014

Orientation is highly recommended for these students, but will not be required.

Please note that exception from the orientation requirement doesn't release students from mandatory advising. Additionally, students whose orientation requirement has been waived are responsible for all information covered in orientation.

*If students feel they have extenuating circumstances outside of these criteria, they may submit an Exception Form (available on the Orientation page in myLCCC) to request an exception to this requirement. Exceptions are considered on a case-by-case basis.

To attend Orientation, you need to sign up. Log on to myLCCC and look for the New Users folder. Follow the steps in the folder to sign up. Make sure you choose the correct link for the session you want to attend.

Need help logging on to myLCCC for the first time?

You will have access to myLCCC once you are admitted to LCCC (meaning we've received your application and your official high school/GED transcript). Please note that your application and transcripts require processing time. You'll receive an acceptance letter from LCCC in the mail when you have been admitted, and then you should be able to log on to myLCCC. Details about your myLCCC login credentials are on the sign-in page. If you have been admitted but are having difficulty logging on, contact the ITS Support Desk at 307.778.4357.

Please note that while there are Orientation dates throughout the spring and summer, course registration is ongoing. Selecting a later Orientation will result in limited course selection as courses fill up. We recommend you attend the soonest available Orientation that works for you.
