Get a great start to your college experience!
Orientation promotes student success by providing students with information and engagement opportunities to facilitate their transition to LCCC. By completing Orientation, you will learn more about LCCC, and begin connecting to campus resources that will aid in your success.
Orientation is available online, to allow students convenience and flexibility as they work to get started at LCCC. Through the interactive online course, students learn about campus resources, are introduced to key people and concepts, and gain knowledge about how to be successful at LCCC. Online Orientation is a self-paced course accessed through LCCC's online learning management system, Canvas.
While we offer Orientation online so that students can move seamlessly through their admission steps and get enrolled in classes, without having to wait for the next event. we also don't want students to miss out on the valuable experience of being on-campus. So we offer welcome events each semester that students can choose to attend to experience campus, meet others, and learn their way around. Learn more about The Kickoff!
Prior to Signing Up For Orientation
To complete Orientation, you must be fully admitted to LCCC for the upcoming semester. For more information, see admissions steps.
Who Has to Attend Orientation?
Orientation is mandatory for all degree- and certificate-seeking students. Orientation provides all students with information to help support their success at LCCC.
A student's orientation requirement will be considered waived if:
- The student has completed an associate, bachelor's or higher degree from a regionally-accredited institution (LCCC must have received official transcripts verifying the degree was conferred)
- The student has successfully completed a minimum of 24 college-level institutional credits (credits at or above the 1000-level, taken at LCCC) with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
- The student has completed an LCCC New Student Orientation since April 2014
We encourage all students to complete Orientation as it provides students with information to help their success.
It is also strongly recommended that students complete Orientation if they do not meet the first two exemption criteria and it has been more than three years since they completed Orientation.
Please note that exception from the orientation requirement doesn't release students from mandatory advising. Additionally, students whose orientation requirement has been waived are responsible for all information covered in orientation.
*If students feel they have extenuating circumstances outside of these criteria, they may submit an Exception Form (available on the Orientation page in myLCCC) to request an exception to this requirement. Exceptions are considered on a case-by-case basis.
