LCCC Orientation

Get a great start to your college experience!

Orientation promotes student success by providing students with information and engagement opportunities to facilitate their transition to LCCC. At Orientation, you will meet other students, learn more about LCCC, and begin connecting to campus resources that will aid in your success. Plus, you will have a chance to win prizes and get all your questions answered as you prepare to begin at LCCC!

Orientation sessions are offered at the Cheyenne and Laramie campuses, in addition to online orientation. You can attend the session/format that is most convenient for you, regardless of which location you plan to attend. Upcoming Orientation dates are listed below.

Prior to Orientation

To attend Orientation, you must have applied for admission and submitted all official high school and/or college transcripts. LCCC highly recommends that you submit prerequisite placement information (ACT/Placement test scores and/or previous college credit) prior to attending Orientation.

Meet with an advisor

After you complete Orientation and provide placement information, you'll be ready to meet with your academic advisor. You may complete this initial advising process in a small group session, based on your program of study, or in an individual appointment, depending on the time of year. These sessions are separate from Orientation. You'll receive more information about advising, who your advisor is, and how to arrange your advising session following Orientation.

Orientation is mandatory for all degree- and certificate-seeking students. Orientation provides all students with information to help support their success at LCCC.

However, a student's orientation requirement will be considered waived if:

  • The student has completed an associate, bachelor's or higher degree from a regionally-accredited institution (LCCC must have received official transcripts verifying the degree was conferred)
  • The student has successfully completed a minimum of 24 college-level institutional credits (credits at or above the 1000-level, taken at LCCC) with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • The student has completed an LCCC New Student Orientation since April 2014

Orientation is highly recommended for these students, but will not be required.

Please note that exception from the orientation requirement doesn't release students from mandatory advising. Additionally, students whose orientation requirement has been waived are responsible for all information covered in orientation.

*If students feel they have extenuating circumstances outside of these criteria, they may submit an Exception Form (available on the Orientation page in EaglesEye) to request an exception to this requirement. Exceptions are considered on a case-by-case basis.

To attend orientation, you need to sign up. Log on to EaglesEye and sign up through the Orientation page. Make sure you choose the correct link for the session you want to attend, as orientations are offered on-campus and online.
