 Who Must Take the TOEFL?

Laramie County Community College uses The World Factbook to determine the official languages of countries and territories.  The TOEFL is not required for residents of countries when the primary language of instruction in secondary levels is English, and one of the following apply:

  • The official language is English, OR
  • The most common (most widely used) language is English, OR
  • English is listed first for languages spoken in the country.

If the primary language of instruction is not in English, the TOEFL is required even if the official language of the country is English. The minimum TOEFL score accepted at LCCC is iBt 61. International students will be placed in the co-requisite courses for both math and English, but may also participate in Guided Self-Placement with a math and/or English faculty after discussing all options with their Student Success Coach.
