Career & Computer Skills
Offered at the Cheyenne Campus
Career skills training is a noncredit, open-entry/open-exit training program available to assist students preparing for clerical employment. This training is self-paced, individualized, and available at times that will meet most schedules.
Course completion time depends on an individual’s entry-level skills. State-of-the-art computers and instructional material are available for students to use while they are taking ACES courses.

Courses
ACES offers introductory and advanced courses in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.) We also offer basic workplace training such as office skills, keyboarding, and data entry.
No minimum number of courses is required. Courses may be taken in order determined by instructor.

| PART 1 – COMPUTING FUNDAMENTALS |

Computing Fundamentals
This course covers basic computer literacy including computer hardware, computer applications and operating system software, and social issues related to computing and technology.

Students will learn Windows operating system basics, how to customize Windows, and how to manage files and folders.

| PART 2 – KEY APPLICATIONS |
Introduction to Microsoft Word XP
Students will use this word processing application to create, edit, and format documents such as letters, memos, and reports.

Introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint XP
Students will use this presentation application to create multimedia slide shows, transparencies, and outlines.

Introduction to Microsoft Excel XP
Students will use this spreadsheet application to work with text and numbers to create tables, worksheets, and financial documents involving calculations. Students will learn about formulas, functions, and charts.

| PART 3 – LIVING ONLINE |
Introduction to the Internet (Internet Explorer)
and Electronic Mail
Students will learn about network concepts, Internet history and terminology, Internet strategies for searching for information on the Internet, and electronic mail basics.

IC³ – The Internet nad Computing Core Certification Exams
The national certification exam consists of 3 exams: Computing Fundamentals, Key Applications, and Living Online.
Note: Students must pass all 3 exams to become IC³ certified.
