Community Engagement

The Laramie County Community College Center for Community Engagement strives to make a difference in the life of our communities through learning, scholarship, community involvement and partnerships with other organizations and institutions.
While the center has a local focus, we consider state, national, and global issues of vital importance to our local community and seek to outreach at these levels as well.
Our mission is to inspire a sense of civic responsibility and create informed citizenship and lifelong community involvement. We will achieve this mission through these goals:
• share the time, treasure and talent of the campus to positively impact real community problems
• deepen classroom learning
• and strengthen ethics of civic engagement
Service Learning Ethics Civic Engagement Global Understanding
Service learning combines classroom instruction with community service, focusing on critical, reflective thinking as well as personal and civic responsibility. Service learning programs involve students in activities that address local, community-identified needs while developing their academic skills and commitment to their community. Further ethics dialogue and teach ethical decision making skills. Encourage individual and collective actions designed to identify and address issues of public concern. Elevate awareness and understanding of other cultures, political, and economic systems.
